OKC Pride Week 2012: Ten Full Days of Pride

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Feb 15, 2012) – In commemoration of OKC Pride’s 25th anniversary, OKC Pride has announced Pride Week 2012 will be May 18-27. The parade and festival dates have been finalized. The festival will take place at an area park (TBA) on Saturday, May 19. The annual parade will take place on Sunday, May 20, on the same parade route as in years past.  Pride Week will also feature a two-day rodeo at the State Fairgrounds May 26-27.  The Great Plains Rodeo is presented by O.G.R.A, who has partnered with OKC Pride for 2012.  OKC Pride is still reaching out to other LGBT organizations so they can fill Pride Week with an array of activities celebrating diversity and commemorating the LGBT rights movement in central Oklahoma.

OKC Pride vice-president Joshua Sauer says, “The goal of this year’s Pride Week is to be community-focused and mission-driven.  We’re spreading out our celebration over ten full days to celebrate our 25th year in a special way. Last year we got the public’s attention in a big way; this year we’re doing the same, for a longer period.”

OKC Pride has given their website a makeover as well. The website is more intuitive and user-friendly with an abundance of Pride Week and organizational information.
